Detailed dissection of the international newsgathering process, along the familiar lines of ‘What, Which, Who, When, Where, How’, resulting in a routine distortion of the so-called ‘first, second and third’ worlds.

Separate chapters deal with the philosophy, economics, sociology, politics, history, geography, linguistics, semiology and psychology, of international news.

Houten: Bohn Stafleu Van Loghum 1996). With an updated 2nd ed. (Alphen aan de Rijn: Kluwer), 235 p.,  lit. With boxes and ill., one series specially produced by Roel Ottow. ISBN 978-90-14-09273-3.

A Chinese professor initially translated the book to use with his own students. In 2016 it was published by the Press of the Communication Universitry of China in Beijing. The author has not been able to verify the translation.
